Repair and Guidance for Women's Communities

“When the fabric of women’s culture is threadbare,
all of Earth’s cultures suffer immeasurably…”

The celebration of, and respect for, vibrant, generative woman’s culture and community was at the center of well human culture for millennia; the bright and blazing central fire and wellspring of wellness for cultures around the globe. That is, up to a few thousand years ago. Much more recently, with the West’s Industrial Revolution and the invention of the nuclear family and modern marriage, women’s culture became something many women themselves assaulted as an antiquated – even absurd – longing and cultural structure that was no longer necessary. There have been other astonishing and surprising assaults to women’s culture, launched by those who have a voice because of the insistence on women to protect and amplify the voices of the marginalized. Regardless of the source of the devaluation and violence, the result on us is the same: we do not gather. And when we do gather, we do so as women who have forgotten our ancestral grandmothers’ wisdom.

We have forgotten how to lead without power-over. We have forgotten how to have authority without control. And, perhaps the most devastating for all Life, we have forgotten how to be elders. At this time of crisis and collapse, being an elder is a thing we do regardless of our chronological age. Being an elder requires that we understand our right-size, our place, our meaning in, and to, The World, even as we mentor the youngers to take our place…to make us obsolete. But most of us have never experienced this ourselves. Many of us have been raised in hierarchical families and communities within deeply misogynist cultures.

When we do come together, we forget how to lead and how to follow. Those of us who identify with dominator culture forget how to listen. While those of us who have eschewed dominator culture forget how to speak and be heard. Understandably, we bring the open wounds we have received from culture and family, and we lay them in each other’s laps – but we do most of this unconsciously. Some of us have a ‘rose-colored glasses’ belief that if we are with women, we are safe. While others of us feel our most unsafe when we are in the company of women.

Sound, well and fierce women’s communities, across the globe, are their own languages and cultures – diverse and unique to each small group within each community within each country. And, like the thousands of species and cultures that go extinct each day, their disappearance is devastating to the fabric of Life.

Since 2010 I have had the honor of supporting women’s communities, groups and organizations across the globe. Despite rather significant cultural differences, there are some striking and heart-breaking similarities. We are an attuned and sensitive lot, females. That seems to be, for the most part, Nature’s design (as unpopular as it is to acknowledge that biology plays a part in an organism’s disposition and wisdom).

I am here to support and nourish your women’s group, community or organization into its full, vibrant, generative wellness. Wellness that enables you to do the work we so desperately need you to do. Together, we will create a mentorship and training program that is tailor-made to fit your specific mission and vision. There is no group too large or too small for this structure or this work.

If your group is ailing, struggling to find its way amidst enculturated ways of communicating, listening and acting, please do not hesitate to reach out. Please do not let your group’s financial capacity determine your request for support.

I look forward to hearing from you.
